SSSHHH.... ITS NOT PERFECTLY NORMAL!!!

Today we are going to talk about the least spoken yet very common complication of Diabetes … Erectile Dysfunction (E.D) or in simple terms Sexual dysfunction…

Most people think that failure to get erection happens with age, Nothing can be done about it… Or they end up trying all wild herbs Or glue themselves to late night TV shows claiming to treat E.D.
The fact that most people do not realise is that chances of developing E.D can be minimised if blood sugars are adequately controlled.

As much as 75% of diabetics experience E.D at sometime or the other. This is much higher than compared to people without Diabetes. I am not going to explain in detail about the normal physiology that happens during sexual intercourse. The idea of this post is to highlight the fact that if blood sugars are high , Chances of developing E.D are TRIPLED

Reasons for a Diabetic person developing E.D

  • High blood sugars itself can cause Erectile Dysfunction
  • Neuropathy due to High blood sugars ( Small nerves are affected more easily compared to larger nerves)
  • Reduction in blood supply
  • Associated Hypertension
  • Low testosterone levels
  • Smoking

Other reasons for E.D

  • Blood vessel damage
  • Trauma
  • Post-Surgery
  • Nerve disorders
  • Hormonal disorders
  • Few Drugs can cause E.D
  • Depression
  • Performance Pressure

Good news is good control of sugars with a properly timed regimen of Diet , Exercise and Medications will prevent Erectile Dysfunction….

Consult your Doctor today for proper evaluation and Treatment of E.D
